Kodiak Trailer Brakes - K2R526DKG

Highlights

  • Stops Smoother and Shorter: Disc brakes give consistent braking even at highway speeds with less fade.
  • Built to Resist Corrosion: Dacromet and KodaGuard coatings rated 300–600 hours in salt spray for marine durability.
  • Easier Maintenance: Slip-on rotors fit over standard idler hubs—replace rotor or hub separately when needed.
  • Runs Cooler Under Load: Vented cast iron rotors dissipate heat to prevent damage during long hauls.
  • Bolts On Securely: 5-bolt brake flange and ductile iron brackets ensure tight, durable mounting.
  • Rated for Heavy Axles: Fits 5,200-lb to 6,000-lb axles with 15" and larger wheels, 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern.

Features to know about

Upgrade Towing Confidence: Disc Brakes Deliver Consistent, Strong Stopping

Swapping out tired drum brakes for this Kodiak disc kit brings a real boost in control. The 12" rotors fit over standard idler hubs and use your existing wheel and bolts, so installation is straightforward. With cast iron calipers, stainless steel pistons, and ceramic brake pads, braking feels smooth and equal every time. Less flex and fewer moving parts mean lower maintenance and more dependable stopping on every trip.

Built for Saltwater and Wet Conditions: Dacromet and KodaGuard Protection

Corrosion can ruin brakes fast in marine environments, but this setup is built to last. The Dacromet-plated rotors and brackets have a 300- to 400-hour salt spray rating, and the KodaGuard-plated calipers push that to 600 hours. Stainless steel bolts, pistons, and pad backing plates resist rust so the brakes stay reliable even after repeated dunking or coastal towing.

Cooler Braking Under Load: Vented Cast Iron Rotors

When heat builds up on long grades or with heavy loads, performance can drop fast. These vented cast iron rotors dissipate heat efficiently to prevent warping and fade. The vented design keeps braking consistent while protecting the pads and seals from heat damage, helping the system run cooler mile after mile.

Easy Maintenance and Direct Fit: Slip-On Rotor Design

This kit makes service simple. The slip-on rotors fit over standard idler hubs—no need to replace the hub if only the rotor wears out. Each assembly mounts using a 5-bolt brake flange configuration for a secure fit on 5,200-lb to 6,000-lb axles (#42 spindle) with 15" or larger wheels and a 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern. It’s a straightforward bolt-on upgrade that keeps repairs quick and clean.

Engineered Strength for Heavy Duty Use: Durable Iron Brackets and Hardware

The ductile iron mounting brackets are embossed for extra thread contact, giving a tight hold between caliper and bracket. A side-support design carries the load through the bracket instead of the bolts, adding strength where it counts. Everything from the stainless mounting bolts to the cast components is built for long service life under demanding towing conditions.

Not well. I found that the calipers would not retract to a neutral position causing constant braking pressure on the pads, consequently heating the rotors and hub, prematurely wearing the pads. I clear water wash every time. When I disassembled to repair, found the stainless sleeve would not slide in the rubber bushing component on the caliper.

Best trailer breaks I have ever had.

Ordering, processing, and delivery was seemless. The parts were very well packaged. The price was right and free shipping made this purchase a no-brainer. Thanks e-trailer

I was very pleased with the fast delivery. One part was on hand at the time of my order and it was expeditiously followed up and gotten to me with good communication. I used e-trailer's technical assistance and got an answer to my question within 24 hours.

by:

So on the last trailer I converted to hydraulic disc, I used the Titan kit with actuator. This trailer is a cargo trailer for work 14'X8' and not that heavy. I went with Kodiak discs and the Hydrastar actuator. I mounted it inside the trailer to protect it and keep it out of sight. It's so quiet but works flawlessly! Even with the door open, it's tough to hear, so for bleeding, I set up a remote switch to activate the system. It doesn't leak, has plenty of power, and is very smooth coupled with my factory Ford brake controller.. It's been a year, so long time reliability is a wait and see, but so far, I'm very happy.

Very pleased with my order of the Kodiak brake kit. I called etrailer in a frenzy due to a bad time crunch and lack of parts accessibility on my remote island in Alaska I live on. William B was amazingly helpful and knowledgeable and was able to find my parts needed and get them to me very fast so I could get my time crunch repair done in time! Parts quality is excellent! Everything fit perfect on this double axle boat trailer by Nextrail. A guaranteed repeat customer! Thank you etrailer and especially William B.

Just what I needed, perfect replacement for my old system. Caroline G was very helpful with this choice.

  • What Parts do I Need to Switch My Brakes to Disc Brakes on My 2022 Jayco Eagle Ht 29.5 bhds?
Thinking about making the switch to disc brakes, always a great idea! We definitely have the parts to make the switch. Unfortunately, I don’t have a database showing what components are installed on each camper (I wish one existed, it would make my job a whole lot easier!). With that said, based on my research, it looks like you should have (2) 5,200 lb axles (you’ll want to double-check your axle tag). Here’s a list of what you’ll need: - (4) Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 5,200-lb...

  • What Bearings do I Need for the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit with 12" Rotor ?

The Kodiak Disc Brake Kit - 12" Rotor - 6 on 5-1/2 - Dacromet and KodaGuard - 5,200 to 6,000 lbs # K2R526DKG uses a slip-on rotor, so you will also need an idler hub to complete the setup. • Determining Correct Axle Upgrade For 2018 Grand Design Imagine Travel Trailer
I would be happy to make a recommendation for upgraded axles and suspension components for your 2018 Grand Design Imagine 2670MK, but first I will need a few measurements from your current components. Starting with the axle you will need to measure your current axles from hub face to hub face and from spring center to spring center to determine the correct length the replacement axle would need to be. For example the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with E-Z Lube Spindles - 89" Long - 5,200 lbs...

  • Is Swapping to Disc Brakes Beneficial For a 2010 Keystone Laredo 5TH Wheel?
For your 2010 Keystone Laredo 266RL a Disc Brake trailer brake upgrade would provide you will a lot better stopping power. You would need to remove your current brake assemblies and hubs. The disc brakes will also require some modification to your trailers braking system. You will have to use an electric over hydraulic brake actuator which may require a different brake controller and run brake lines that will need to be filled with brake fluid and properly bleed. • Hubs to Use With Kodiak Disc Brake Kit K2R526DKG
Since the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit part # K2R526DKG is a slip on disc brake kit you would need an idler hub like the part # AKIHUB-655-6-EZ-K which is a 6k hub and has the correct 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern. We don't have a Dexter hub in this configuration but the etrailer hub I mentioned would work really well and is also pre-greased with LMX red grease too for an easier and cleaner install.

  • Can DeeMaxx Caliper Brackets Be Used With Kodiak Kodaguard Calipers?
Hey Jim, thanks for reaching out. No, you cannot use DeeMaxx brackets with Kodiak calipers. It's never a good idea to mix and match brands with disc brake parts. The brackets and calipers are similar between brands but not identical. Even if the dimensions of either part are off by a hair, it will put stuff out of alignment. A lot of times what we see when mixing brackets and calipers is the pads dragging on the rotor. All it takes is a very slight difference to throw things off. You will...

However, since your back axle uses hub-centric wheels I cannot recommend a slip-on kit like part # K2R526DKG although this kit matches your axle capacity and bolt pattern.
