Swapping out tired drum brakes for this Kodiak disc kit brings a real boost in control. The 12" rotors fit over standard idler hubs and use your existing wheel and bolts, so installation is straightforward. With cast iron calipers, stainless steel pistons, and ceramic brake pads, braking feels smooth and equal every time. Less flex and fewer moving parts mean lower maintenance and more dependable stopping on every trip.
Corrosion can ruin brakes fast in marine environments, but this setup is built to last. The Dacromet-plated rotors and brackets have a 300- to 400-hour salt spray rating, and the KodaGuard-plated calipers push that to 600 hours. Stainless steel bolts, pistons, and pad backing plates resist rust so the brakes stay reliable even after repeated dunking or coastal towing.
When heat builds up on long grades or with heavy loads, performance can drop fast. These vented cast iron rotors dissipate heat efficiently to prevent warping and fade. The vented design keeps braking consistent while protecting the pads and seals from heat damage, helping the system run cooler mile after mile.
This kit makes service simple. The slip-on rotors fit over standard idler hubs—no need to replace the hub if only the rotor wears out. Each assembly mounts using a 5-bolt brake flange configuration for a secure fit on 5,200-lb to 6,000-lb axles (#42 spindle) with 15" or larger wheels and a 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern. It’s a straightforward bolt-on upgrade that keeps repairs quick and clean.
The ductile iron mounting brackets are embossed for extra thread contact, giving a tight hold between caliper and bracket. A side-support design carries the load through the bracket instead of the bolts, adding strength where it counts. Everything from the stainless mounting bolts to the cast components is built for long service life under demanding towing conditions.

I was very pleased with the fast delivery. One part was on hand at the time of my order and it was expeditiously followed up and gotten to me with good communication. I used e-trailer's technical assistance and got an answer to my question within 24 hours.
So on the last trailer I converted to hydraulic disc, I used the Titan kit with actuator. This trailer is a cargo trailer for work 14'X8' and not that heavy. I went with Kodiak discs and the Hydrastar actuator. I mounted it inside the trailer to protect it and keep it out of sight. It's so quiet but works flawlessly! Even with the door open, it's tough to hear, so for bleeding, I set up a remote switch to activate the system. It doesn't leak, has plenty of power, and is very smooth coupled with my factory Ford brake controller.. It's been a year, so long time reliability is a wait and see, but so far, I'm very happy.

Great! Disc brakes are far more reliable and strong than electric drums.
Spoke with Helen on the phone she was very knowledgeable and helped me figure out what kit i needed. I was surprised at how fast the turnaround time was from when i ordered my brakes it was only a few days later they arrived. Assemblu was a breeze thanks to the awesome how to videos etrailer has uploaded to you tube. Ive tested the breaks and they worj great. Time will tell how they will hold up over the years, but i feel confident if i have any issues they will be able to help.

Not well. I found that the calipers would not retract to a neutral position causing constant braking pressure on the pads, consequently heating the rotors and hub, prematurely wearing the pads. I clear water wash every time. When I disassembled to repair, found the stainless sleeve would not slide in the rubber bushing component on the caliper.
